What does this involve? Firstly, we will inspect the floor to ensure all nails are well below the wood surface. Why is this important? If any nails are left protruding past the surface, then it is very likely to damage the sanding machinery as it passes over. Furthermore, we will look to identify any loose boards, dents and gaps. From this point, you must then apply a protective covering to mask off walls and surrounding spaces. Some choose to cover the doorway. However, our dustless floor sanding system ensures the absolute minimum amount of dust is created in the sanding process.

In terms of repairs for wood floors, loose boards must be secured. Damaged wood needs to be replaced or repaired. If you are looking to replace any boards, it is important to find ones that will fit as seamlessly as possible with the surrounding planks.

Any serious dents should be filled. This is the same for any gaps between them. Depending on the severity of the gaps we use a sawdust resin or finely cut wood wedges to make additional wood repairs. This mixture fills any gaps between floorboards. It is important to remember that light scratches don’t generally need specific repair as these will sand away during the sanding process.

A high filtration vacuum is then used to remove any dry dirt particles that may damage the wood boards during the floor sanding process. This information gives an insight onto the level of care needed to prepare for sanding wood floors. Got questions? Get in touch by calling 0845 4599941.
